EX-NEURALINK EMPLOYEE RAISES $41M

This week, Precision Neuroscience raised $41M in a series B to continue work in treating devastating neurological conditions like strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and dementia.

The procedure involves making a small incision and overlaying a thin film micro-electrode array spanning 380 microns (or 1/5 the thickness of a human hair for those of us who don't speak science) over the surface of the brain.

What we found interesting:

1/ It's Modular: If the patient finds improvement with one array, they can keep adding more arrays to enhance capabilities. (More power-ups please!)

2/ It's Bi-directional: The electrodes record, interpret and translate brain signals to enable control of computer systems – turning thoughts to actions.

Despite the recent technology downturns, Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) is a growing sector – raising over $274M last year, up from $170M five years ago; leading the pack is Twitter Neuralink with over $360M in funding.

Precision Neuroscience CEO Benjamin Rapoport says their secret sauce is they're the only kids in town who's procedure is minimally invasive, high-resolution and most importantly, reversible.

"The future is here, it's just unevenly distributed." Famous words by writer, William Gibson aka. Mr. Cyberpunk.

People are always looking for a leg up over each other – just look at all the people in Hollywood popping Ozempic.

While the entry use cases are treating neurological conditions as well as controlling prosthetics, it isn't hard to imagine a black mirror world where brain implants paired with GPT lead to some cyberpunk dystopia...

AI BUZZWORD PUMPS STOCK

It wasn't that long ago that you could put "crypto" or "blockchain" after a company and see the stock value increase.

Remember when Long Island Iced Tea changed its name to Long Blockchain Corp and saw its stock soar 200%? GPTEA remembers.

Jonah Peretti, CEO of BuzzFeed, threw a Hail Mary as it announced plans to use ChatGPT to create its content and enhance its quizzes.

BuzzFeed has been underperforming for the last 8 months and ChatGPT has single handedly saved Jonah's ass and his millions in stock-based compensation. At least for this week.

This announcement could help turn BuzzFeed into an AI-content powerhouse and surpass its peers.

Peretti acknowledged that the future of digital media for the next three years will be creators like celebrities, athletes and influencers working alongside AI.

Moreover, The Wall Street Journal reported that Meta is going to pay BuzzFeed millions to help generate creator content for Facebook and Instagram.

This is not financial advice, but this smells like a pump and dump.
